Bathroom is done!

I have terrific, terrific news to report: THE BATHROOM IS DONE! And let me tell you, it is fabulous.

Here's how things went: We had someone prep the subfloor, and then Jake tiled the floor. And? That was really, really hard work. The patterned slate we chose did not make anything easier. And it took forever. And those people who said "tiling is fun and easy!" are terrible liars. In any event, Jake did a marvelous job, because our bathroom floor turned out beautifully.

We then had someone come grout it while we were away, at the same time that the tub reglazing people did their work. So we came home from Thanksgiving to a white tub, and beautifully grouted tile floor. Hooray! Things were looking up!

And then we waited, and then waited, and then the toilet was installed! And the vanity was installed! And then things were looking up. Way up.

And then, upon our contractor's faith and advice, Jake cut a hole in the wall to put in the new light fixture. That was intense. Cutting holes in your wall is intense.

But check it out! We installed a light fixture in a NEW place! Wowsers!

And then, after an SOS call to the contractor, and a hole in the wall, we had a properly hung medicine cabinet!

With a new towel hook, a new shower curtain, some paint touch ups, and new towels, our bathroom is done.

And? I love it! The colors are perfect - it is light and modern, and feels relaxing. It was aggravating. Really, really aggravating. Much more so than the kitchen. But as of yet, it is much more satisfying than the kitchen. The kitchen still needs a coat of paint and a tile backsplash. Stay tuned!

Full list of parts and full accounting to come. (Then we will actually know the price of aggravation. Ha!)
